Accounting & Taxation

The Area “Accounting & Taxation“ at the University of Mannheim offers a competitive, English-language Ph.D. program in the fields of Financial Accounting, Managerial Accounting, Auditing and Business Taxation research.

The uniquely rich curriculum provides Ph.D. students with core competencies in all relevant areas of accounting and tax research (analytical, empirical, and normative research methods on the basis of profound knowledge of the institutional details in our field). It also offers links to other disciplines including economics and finance and integrates them into a coherent curriculum conforming to top international standards.

Area "Accounting & Taxation"

As an integral part of the Business School at the University of Mannheim, the Area “Accounting & Taxation“ belongs to the top ranked faculty in business in Germany. The members of the Area conduct, on a high international level, scientific research as well as applied research contributing to industry, standard setting and politics.

The Area's faculty presents its work at conferences and through publications, both on a national and an international level. Exchange with internationally known researchers and highly successful companies and institutions help us maintain a leading position in theoretical as well as practical research.

The knowledge cluster emerging from the combination of 6 chairs (consisting of 6 Full Professors, roughly 6 Assistant Professors, and 50 Assistants in Accounting & Taxation) is unique in German-speaking countries, while the close cooperation in the Area allows for a stimulating research environment.
